Chonky Sweater Tutorial

Here is a fun guideline of how I attacked this CHONKY crop sweater!

Materials:

- Vel-Luxe by Lion Brands in the colors Asphalt and Harbor Mist

- 19mm Crochet Hook

- Yarn Needle

- Scissors

Pattern Process:

- Measure the length ( Middle of your neck to the small of your back )

- Measure the width ( Hip to Hip )

- Measure the shoulder straps ( Hip to middle of stomach )

- Measure sleeve length ( Top of shoulder to wrist )

- Measure sleeve width ( This is designed to be bulky so add around 2 inches to your measurement )

Back Square:

1) With the color asphalt, Ch the length of the width measured, in the 3rd ch from the hook 1 dc, dc in each ch across.

2) Ch 2 and turn, 1 dc in each st across.

3- ?) Repeat for #2 until you have reached half of the length measured. Do not cut your working yarn because we will be using that strand to make the shoulder straps.

Shoulder Straps:

1) Starting with the working yarn from the back square, ch 2 and turn, 1 dc until you reach the measurement of the shoulder straps.

2) Ch 2 and turn, 1 dc across.

3-?) Repeat row #2 until you reach the length measured.

Repeat this process on the opposite side for the second shoulder strap.

Back Patch

1) With the color Harbor Mist, Count the number of stitches you have left between each shoulder strap and ch that amount, in the 3rd ch from your hook place 1 dc, dc across.

2) Ch 2 and turn, 1 dc in each st across.

3-?) Repeat row #2 until you have reached half of your height measured.

Using the mattress stitch, attach the back patch to the cardi.

Sleeves (x2)

1) Ch to the length measured, in 3rd ch from the hook 1 dc, 1 dc across.

2) Ch 2 and turn, 1 dc across

3-?) Repeat row #2 until you have desired width.

Fold the sleeves width direction, use the mattress stitch to close.

Ribbing

1) Attach the color Asphalt to the bottom of your cardi, 1sc in each st around.

2) Ch 1 and turn, 1 sc, *1 scfp, 1scbp* Repeat around until the last st, 1sc.

3-4) Repeat row #2

Cut working yarn and weave in all ends.
